Tobago is one of the Caribbean's most unspoilt and captivating islands — a tiny, beautiful paradise sitting just north of its sister island Trinidad, with white sandy beaches, crystal-clear water and a lush, mountainous interior teeming with wildlife.
Unlike many Caribbean islands, Tobago has been relatively untouched by mass tourism, giving it a wonderfully authentic, unhurried character. The island lies just south of the Atlantic hurricane belt, making extreme storms rare.
Pigeon Point is widely regarded as one of the finest beaches in the Caribbean — a breathtaking stretch of white sand with crystal-clear turquoise water and a famous thatched jetty.
Buccoo Reef is one of the most famous natural attractions in the Caribbean — a spectacular coral reef accessible by glass-bottom boat, with the magical Nylon Pool nearby.
Speyside is the gateway to Little Tobago, the 'Bird of Paradise Island' — a wildlife sanctuary and one of the finest birdwatching and diving destinations in the Caribbean.
The Main Ridge Forest Reserve, established in 1776, is one of the oldest protected rainforests in the Western Hemisphere, home to over 200 bird species.
Flights from the UK take approximately 10 hours, with direct services from London Gatwick and Manchester to Tobago's ANR Robinson International Airport.

Pigeon Point is widely regarded as one of the finest beaches in the entire Caribbean — a breathtaking stretch of white sand with crystal-clear turquoise water, fringed with palm trees and with a famous thatched jetty stretching out into the sea. The beach has a small entry charge and is well-maintained, with lifeguards, water sports facilities and beachside restaurants. The combination of natural beauty and excellent facilities makes Pigeon Point truly unforgettable.
Buccoo Reef is one of the most famous natural attractions in the Caribbean — a spectacular coral reef just offshore from Buccoo village, accessible by glass-bottom boat trips from Store Bay and Pigeon Point. The reef is home to an extraordinary variety of marine life, including sea turtles, rays, parrotfish and a dazzling variety of coral. The Nylon Pool — a shallow, crystal-clear lagoon in the middle of the sea — is another highlight of the Buccoo Reef excursion.
Speyside is an idyllic fishing village on the northeast coast of Tobago — the gateway to Little Tobago, known as the 'Bird of Paradise Island' after Sir William Ingram imported 50 birds of paradise to the island in 1909. The island is now a wildlife sanctuary and one of the finest birdwatching destinations in the Caribbean. Speyside itself is one of the best diving destinations in the Caribbean, with spectacular coral reefs and a wide variety of marine life.
Tobago has a magnificent interior of lush tropical rainforest — one of the oldest protected rainforests in the Western Hemisphere. The Main Ridge Forest Reserve, established in 1776, is home to over 200 species of birds, including the rare white-tailed sabrewing hummingbird. The forest is also home to armadillos, agoutis, iguanas and a wide variety of exotic plants. Guided birdwatching and nature walks are available from most hotels.
Tobago is one of the best places in the Caribbean to watch sea turtles. Turtle watching season runs from March to September, when leatherback, hawksbill and green turtles come ashore to nest on Tobago's beaches. Guided turtle watching tours operate from various beaches around the island, with the chance to witness female turtles nesting or see tiny hatchlings making their way to the sea. The experience is extraordinary and completely unforgettable.
Englishman's Bay is one of the most beautiful and secluded beaches in Tobago — a stunning crescent of golden sand on the leeward coast, between Castara and Parlatuvier, with gorgeous greenery and crystal-clear water. Castara is a charming fishing village with a beautiful bay, excellent snorkelling and a wonderfully authentic, unhurried atmosphere. Both are perfect for visitors seeking an unspoilt, off-the-beaten-track Caribbean experience.
The Tobago Heritage Festival is an annual summer celebration of Tobago's rich culture and traditions — a wonderful festival that invites visitors to experience the island's heritage through dance, music and cuisine. The festival features traditional folk performances, re-enactments of historical events, local food and craft markets, and a wonderful atmosphere of community celebration. The Tobago Carnival in February is another major event, with street parties in Scarborough and Roxborough.
Store Bay is one of the most popular beaches in Tobago — a golden stretch of sand close to Crown Point and the airport, with excellent water sports, boat trips to Buccoo Reef and some of the best street food in the Caribbean. The famous crab and dumpling stalls at Store Bay are a Tobago institution. Crown Point is the main tourist hub of Tobago, with the highest concentration of hotels, restaurants and bars on the island.
