Denis Island is one of the finest big game fishing destinations in the world — the island sits at the edge of the continental shelf, where the ocean drops from 60 metres to over 2,000 metres in a short distance. This creates extraordinary conditions for marlin, sailfish, wahoo, tuna and dogtooth tuna. The fishing is considered among the best in the Indian Ocean.
Denis Private Island is the only resort on the island — a charming, intimate lodge with 25 cottages set among the coconut palms, with exceptional food, a beautiful beach and a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. The lodge is all-inclusive and the service is warm and personal. It is one of the most charming resorts in the Seychelles.
The coral reefs around Denis Island are among the most pristine in the Seychelles — the island's remoteness means the reefs have been less affected by tourism. The diving and snorkelling is exceptional, with extraordinary coral formations, abundant marine life and excellent visibility. The drop-off at the edge of the continental shelf is a world-class dive site.
Denis Island is one of the most important hawksbill turtle nesting beaches in the Seychelles. The turtles nest on the beaches between October and February. The Denis Private Island lodge participates in turtle conservation and guests can join guided turtle watching excursions during the nesting season.
Denis Island has excellent birdwatching — the island is home to the Seychelles sunbird, Seychelles fody, Seychelles blue pigeon and many other endemic species. The island also has a large colony of sooty terns and other seabirds. The birdwatching is excellent year-round.
Denis Island offers a level of remoteness and unspoilt natural beauty that is rare even in the Seychelles. The island has no day visitors, no cars and no development beyond the lodge. The beaches are pristine, the forest is undisturbed and the sense of being in a truly wild and remote place is extraordinary.
Denis Island has beautiful beaches — long stretches of fine white sand with clear, warm water and the extraordinary natural beauty of the Seychelles. The beaches are completely uncrowded and the snorkelling from the beach is excellent.
Denis Private Island is all-inclusive — all food, wine, spirits and activities are included in the room rate. The food is exceptional, with a focus on fresh, locally caught seafood. The dining experience is enhanced by the extraordinary natural setting.
