Hua Hin Railway Station is the most beautiful railway station in Thailand — a magnificent Victorian-style wooden station built in 1926, with a distinctive red and white colour scheme, ornate wooden fretwork and a royal waiting room (the Sala Royale) that was used by the royal family on their journeys to Hua Hin. The station is a Thai national treasure and is still in active use. The royal waiting room is open to visitors and is one of the most atmospheric places in Hua Hin.
The Hua Hin Night Market (Dechanuchit Road) is the best street food market in the Hua Hin area — a lively, atmospheric market open every evening with excellent fresh seafood (grilled fish, steamed crab, fried squid), Thai curries, pad thai, fresh fruit and local snacks at very affordable prices. The market is the most popular evening destination in Hua Hin and is the best place to experience authentic Thai street food culture.
The Cicada Market is the most upscale and creative market in Hua Hin — an outdoor arts and crafts market open Friday to Sunday evenings, with excellent food stalls, live music, art galleries, handmade crafts and a sophisticated, cosmopolitan atmosphere. The market is the most popular weekend evening destination in Hua Hin and is the finest example of the sophisticated, cultured character that distinguishes Hua Hin from other Thai beach resorts.
Klai Kangwon Palace (Far from Worries Palace) is the royal summer residence of the Thai royal family in Hua Hin — a beautiful seaside palace built in 1926 by King Rama VII, set in extensive gardens on the northern edge of Hua Hin Beach. The palace is occasionally open to the public (when the royal family is not in residence) and the gardens are always open. The palace is the most historically significant building in Hua Hin.
The Hua Hin Hills Vineyard is one of the most surprising attractions in Thailand — a working vineyard and winery 45 minutes from Hua Hin Town, producing excellent Thai wines from Shiraz, Colombard and Chenin Blanc grapes. The vineyard offers tours, wine tastings and a restaurant with beautiful views over the vines and the surrounding hills. It is the finest vineyard in Thailand and a fascinating and unexpected excursion from Hua Hin.
Art in Paradise Hua Hin is the most popular family attraction in Hua Hin Town — a large interactive art museum with 3D paintings and installations that create extraordinary optical illusions when photographed. The museum is excellent for families with children and is one of the most entertaining attractions in the area. The Hua Hin branch is one of the largest in the Art in Paradise chain.
Hua Hin Town has the finest cafe and restaurant scene in the area — a mix of excellent Thai restaurants, international cafes and creative dining venues in the streets behind the beach. The Baan Itsara restaurant, the Meekaruna Seafood restaurant and the Let's Sea Alfresco restaurant are among the most popular. The town has a genuine cafe culture and is the best place in the area for a leisurely breakfast or lunch.
