Loh Dalum Bay is the most beautiful beach on Phi Phi Don — a perfect crescent of brilliant white sand with turquoise water of extraordinary clarity. The beach is framed by limestone karst cliffs at each end and backed by coconut palms. It is one of the most photographed beaches in Thailand and is even more beautiful in person than in photographs.
Loh Dalum Bay faces west and has the most iconic sunsets in the Phi Phi Islands — the sky turns extraordinary shades of orange, pink and purple as the sun drops behind the limestone cliffs. The beach fills with visitors every evening for the sunset and the atmosphere is magical. The viewpoint above the bay offers an even more spectacular perspective.
The nightly fire shows on Loh Dalum Beach are one of the most famous spectacles in Thailand — skilled performers spin fire poi, jump through fire hoops and perform acrobatics on the beach every evening after dark. The shows are free to watch from the beach and the atmosphere is extraordinary. The beach bars provide the soundtrack.
The Phi Phi Viewpoint, reached by a steep 20-minute climb from the village, offers the most famous view in the Phi Phi Islands — a panoramic vista of both Tonsai Bay and Loh Dalum Bay from above, with the narrow isthmus between them clearly visible. The view is extraordinary and is one of the most photographed in Thailand. The climb is steep but well worth it.
Loh Dalum Bay has the most atmospheric beach bar scene in the Phi Phi Islands — a row of beach bars with sun loungers, cocktails, music and fire shows along the beachfront. The atmosphere in the evenings is electric. The Sunflower Bar and the Ibiza Bar are among the most popular. The beach is the social heart of Phi Phi.
Loh Dalum Bay has excellent swimming — the water is calm, clear and warm. The snorkelling at the edges of the bay is good, with coral and tropical fish visible. Note that the bay can be affected by jellyfish during certain times of year — always check local conditions. The water is at its clearest from November to April.
Several resorts and guesthouses are located directly on or very close to Loh Dalum Bay — the PP Princess Resort and the Phi Phi Island Cabana are among the finest. Staying on Loh Dalum Bay means you are on the most beautiful beach on the island with the village and all facilities just 2 minutes away.
Loh Dalum Bay is affected by significant tidal changes — at low tide the bay can become very shallow and the beach extends dramatically. At high tide the water comes close to the beach bars. The best swimming is at mid to high tide. The tidal changes are part of the character of the bay and create a constantly changing landscape.
