Top 8 Things To Do in Khuk Khak Beach

The legendary Sarojin resort, wild undeveloped beach, extraordinary seclusion and the finest spa in Khao Lak that make Khuk Khak the most exclusive destination in the area.

01

The Beach

Khuk Khak Beach is the most wild and undeveloped beach in Khao Lak — a long stretch of golden sand backed by casuarina trees and jungle, with virtually no commercial development and an extraordinary sense of seclusion and privacy. The beach is significantly less visited than Bang Niang and Nang Thong and retains a genuinely pristine and natural character. The water is calm and warm during the dry season.

02

The Sarojin

The Sarojin is one of the finest boutique hotels in Thailand — a beautiful, intimate resort with just 56 pool residences set in 10 acres of tropical gardens directly on Khuk Khak Beach. The resort has an extraordinary spa, an excellent restaurant, a beautiful pool and a genuinely private and exclusive atmosphere. The Sarojin is consistently rated among the top boutique hotels in Southeast Asia and is the finest accommodation in Khao Lak. The pool residences are exceptional.

03

Seclusion & Privacy

Khuk Khak Beach is the most private and secluded beach in Khao Lak — the Sarojin occupies a long stretch of the beach and the surrounding area is largely undeveloped jungle and national park. The beach is not accessible to day visitors from the resort areas to the south, giving it an extraordinary sense of privacy. It is the ideal destination for honeymooners, couples and those seeking complete seclusion.

04

Diving & Surin Islands

Khuk Khak is an excellent base for diving — the Surin Islands (home to some of the finest coral reefs in Thailand and regular whale shark and manta ray sightings) are closer to Khuk Khak than to the beaches further south. The Sarojin offers diving excursions and the dive centres at Bang Niang are a short drive away. Liveaboard diving trips to the Similans and the Burma Banks also depart from the Khao Lak area.

05

Jungle & Wildlife

The jungle surrounding Khuk Khak Beach is part of the Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park — a beautiful area of tropical forest home to hornbills, gibbons, monitor lizards and a variety of tropical birds. The Sarojin offers guided jungle walks and wildlife spotting excursions. The national park trails are accessible directly from the resort and are an excellent half-day activity.

06

Sunsets

The sunsets at Khuk Khak Beach are the finest in Khao Lak — the wild, undeveloped beach faces directly west and the casuarina trees frame the sunset in a beautiful way. The Sarojin's beachfront restaurant and bar is the finest place to watch the sunset in Khao Lak, with excellent cocktails and fresh Thai food. The sunsets at Khuk Khak are among the most atmospheric in Thailand.

07

Dining at the Sarojin

The Sarojin's restaurant (The Restaurant) is the finest dining experience in Khao Lak — a beautiful open-air restaurant serving excellent contemporary Thai and international cuisine using the freshest local ingredients. The restaurant is open to non-guests by reservation and is the best special occasion dining option in the area. The Sarojin also offers private beach dinners and cooking classes.

08

Practical Tips

Khuk Khak is 85km north of Phuket Airport — approximately 1.5–2 hours by taxi or minibus. The Sarojin offers airport transfers. The beach is not accessible by public transport — a taxi or the resort shuttle is required. November to April is the best time to visit. The Sarojin is open year-round but the diving season and the Similan/Surin Islands are only accessible from November to April.
