Jais Flight — World's Longest Zipline
The Jais Flight is the world's longest zipline at 2.83km — a breathtaking ride from the summit of Jebel Jais at 1,680 metres, reaching speeds of up to 120km/h and offering extraordinary views of the Hajar Mountains, the RAK coastline and the Arabian Gulf. The zipline takes approximately 2.5 minutes from start to finish and is one of the most exhilarating experiences in the UAE. The Jais Flight is operated by Toroverde and is open year-round. Booking in advance is essential.
Jais Sledder
The Jais Sledder is the world's longest toboggan run at 1.78km — a thrilling ride down the mountain on a specially designed sled, with banked turns, tunnels and extraordinary views of the Hajar Mountains. The Sledder is suitable for adults and children (minimum height 1.1 metres) and is one of the most popular activities on Jebel Jais. The ride takes approximately 10 minutes and is excellent fun for families. The Sledder is operated alongside the Jais Flight and can be combined in a single visit.
Jais Sky Tour
The Jais Sky Tour is a series of six ziplines through the Hajar Mountains — a guided multi-zipline experience that takes visitors through the dramatic mountain landscape, with extraordinary views of the wadis, cliffs and the Gulf coast below. The Sky Tour is more immersive than the Jais Flight and gives a better sense of the mountain landscape. The tour takes approximately 3 hours and is suitable for adults and older children. It is the finest adventure experience on Jebel Jais.
Hiking Trails
Jebel Jais has the finest hiking trails in the UAE — a network of well-marked trails through the dramatic Hajar Mountain landscape, with extraordinary views of the wadis, cliffs and the Gulf coast. The Jais Trail is the most popular — a 7km loop trail with 400 metres of elevation gain and extraordinary views from the summit ridge. The Via Ferrata (a fixed-rope climbing route on the mountain face) is the most challenging activity on Jebel Jais and is suitable for experienced climbers.
Mountain Scenery
Jebel Jais has the most dramatic and spectacular mountain scenery in the UAE — the Hajar Mountains rise steeply from the coastal plain to over 1,900 metres, with extraordinary views of the wadis, cliffs, mountain villages and the Arabian Gulf coast. The mountain road from RAK city to the summit is one of the most scenic drives in the UAE, with dramatic switchbacks and extraordinary views at every turn. The summit area has a beautiful viewing platform with 360-degree views.
Cool Climate
Jebel Jais has the coolest climate in the UAE — the summit is typically 10–15°C cooler than the coast, making it a welcome escape from the Gulf heat during the summer months. The mountain is particularly popular with UAE residents during the summer (May to September) when the coastal temperatures are extreme. In winter (December to February), the summit can be cold (below 10°C at night) and occasional frost is possible — bring warm clothing.
Jais Adventure Peak
The Jais Adventure Peak is the main activity hub at the summit of Jebel Jais — a beautifully designed complex with the zipline and toboggan departure points, a restaurant, a cafe, a viewing platform and a small market. The complex is the starting point for all the adventure activities on the mountain and has excellent facilities. The restaurant has good food and extraordinary views of the Hajar Mountains and the Gulf coast.
Practical Tips
Jebel Jais is 45 minutes from RAK city and 1.5 hours from Dubai by car. A car is essential — there is no public transport to the mountain. The Jais Flight and Jais Sledder must be booked in advance online. The mountain road is well-maintained but has steep switchbacks — drive carefully. The summit is cool year-round but can be cold in winter — bring a jacket. The best time for hiking is October to April. The zipline operates year-round.
