Water Sports
Al Marjan Island has excellent water sports facilities — jet skiing, parasailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, banana boat rides and glass-bottom boat tours are all available from the island beaches. The calm, warm water of the Arabian Gulf is ideal for water sports and the island has several dedicated water sports centres. The snorkelling around the island is good, with a variety of reef fish and occasional sea turtles.

The Al Marjan Island Boulevard is the main commercial strip of the island — a pleasant waterfront promenade with shops, restaurants, cafes and leisure facilities. The boulevard is the most pleasant outdoor shopping and dining destination in RAK and is particularly lively in the evening. The promenade has good views of the Gulf and the island's hotel towers.
Practical Tips
Al Marjan Island is 45 minutes from Dubai International Airport by taxi or transfer — significantly closer than Abu Dhabi and more affordable than Dubai. The island is connected to the RAK mainland by a causeway. Taxis and hotel shuttles are the main transport. October to April is the best time to visit. The summer heat (May to September) is extreme but the all-inclusive resorts are excellent value during this period.
