Al Hamra Golf Club
The Al Hamra Golf Club is the finest golf course in Ras Al Khaimah — an 18-hole championship course designed by Peter Harradine, set in a beautiful landscape of palm trees, lakes and the Arabian Gulf coastline. The course is 6,791 yards from the championship tees and has a par of 72. The course is open to non-members and is the most popular golf destination in RAK. The clubhouse has an excellent restaurant and bar with views over the course and the Gulf.
Beach & Pools
Al Hamra has the finest beach facilities in Ras Al Khaimah — the Waldorf Astoria has a long private beach with excellent facilities (sunbeds, umbrellas, beach service), multiple pools and a beautiful beach club. The beach is calm and clean with warm Arabian Gulf water. The Waldorf's infinity pool overlooking the Gulf is the finest pool in RAK. The beach and pool facilities are open to hotel guests and day visitors (with a minimum spend).
Al Hamra Marina
The Al Hamra Marina & Yacht Club is the finest marina in Ras Al Khaimah — a beautiful waterfront marina with berths for up to 200 yachts, a yacht club, a waterfront restaurant and a pleasant promenade. The marina is the most atmospheric waterfront destination in RAK and is particularly beautiful in the evening when the yachts are illuminated. The marina offers boat charters, fishing trips and water sports.
Al Hamra Village
Al Hamra Village is the traditional residential heart of the Al Hamra development — a beautifully designed community of villas and townhouses in a traditional Arabian architectural style, with palm-lined streets, a central mosque and a pleasant village atmosphere. The village is the most attractive residential community in RAK and gives the Al Hamra development a genuine sense of place and character that is lacking in many UAE resort developments.
Al Hamra Mall
Al Hamra Mall is the main shopping destination in the Al Hamra area — a pleasant, air-conditioned mall with a good selection of international brands, a hypermarket, a cinema multiplex and an excellent food court. The mall is significantly smaller and less crowded than the Dubai malls and has a more relaxed atmosphere. It is the most convenient shopping destination for guests staying at the Al Hamra resorts.
Dining
Al Hamra has an excellent dining scene — the Waldorf Astoria has six restaurants including the Lexington Grill (the finest steakhouse in RAK), the Aqua restaurant (Mediterranean seafood) and the Saffron restaurant (Indian cuisine). The Al Hamra Marina has several good waterfront restaurants. The Al Hamra Golf Club restaurant is the most pleasant casual dining option in the area, with views over the golf course and the Gulf.
Practical Tips
Al Hamra is 40 minutes from Dubai International Airport by taxi or transfer — one of the closest RAK destinations to Dubai. The development is self-contained with the Waldorf Astoria, the golf course, the marina and the mall all within walking distance or a short drive. October to April is the best time to visit. The golf course is open year-round but is best played in the cooler months. Book the Waldorf Astoria well in advance for the peak season.
