Krabi is Thailand's most scenically dramatic destination — a province of extraordinary natural beauty where limestone karst towers rise from jade-green water, hidden beaches are accessible only by boat and the sunsets are among the most beautiful in Southeast Asia.
Railay Beach is the centrepiece of any Krabi visit and one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Cut off from the mainland by sheer limestone cliffs, it is accessible only by longtail boat from Ao Nang or Krabi Town. Railay West has the best beach — a wide crescent of white sand with calm, clear water. Railay East is the arrival point and has the best restaurants. Phra Nang Cave Beach, at the southern tip of the peninsula, is extraordinary — a small beach with a sacred cave shrine and dramatic cliffs.
Krabi is one of the world's top rock climbing destinations. The limestone cliffs around Railay and Tonsai have over 700 bolted routes, ranging from beginner to expert. Climbing schools operate on the beach and the views from the top of the cliffs are extraordinary.
The Four Islands tour — a day trip by longtail boat to Koh Poda, Koh Gai, Koh Tub and Koh Mor — is one of the classic Krabi experiences. Excellent snorkelling, white sand beaches and the extraordinary scenery of the Andaman Sea make it unmissable.
Krabi is also the gateway to Koh Lanta and the Phi Phi Islands. Koh Lanta, a 90-minute ferry ride away, is quieter and more relaxed. The Phi Phi Islands, accessible on day trips, are among the most beautiful in the world.
The best time to visit is November to April — dry, sunny and with calm seas. May to October is the wet season, with more rain and rougher seas. We search across Travelpack, Emirates Holidays and JTA Holidays for the best deals, with the FIBI discount applied automatically.

The waters around Krabi have excellent snorkelling and diving. Koh Ha, Koh Dok Mai and the King Cruiser wreck are all excellent dive sites. The visibility is exceptional from November to April.
Wat Tham Suea, the Tiger Cave Temple, requires climbing 1,237 steps to the summit — but the panoramic views over Krabi's limestone landscape are extraordinary. The golden Buddha at the top is one of the most impressive in Thailand.
Kayaking through the sea caves, mangroves and hidden lagoons around Krabi is one of the best experiences in Thailand. Bor Thor mangroves and the sea caves of Ao Thalane are particularly spectacular.
Ao Nang is Krabi's main beach town — a lively strip of restaurants, bars and shops with a good beach and longtail boats departing for Railay and the islands. Less developed than Phuket but with excellent facilities.
The sunset from Railay Beach, with the limestone cliffs silhouetted against an orange sky and longtail boats bobbing in the bay, is one of the most beautiful in Southeast Asia. Absolutely unmissable.
