Top 8 Things To Do in Al Aqah Beach

The Le Méridien resort, Snoopy Island snorkelling, the dramatic Hajar Mountain backdrop and the beautiful Indian Ocean beach that make Al Aqah the finest resort destination in Fujairah.

01

Le Méridien Al Aqah Beach Resort

The Le Méridien Al Aqah Beach Resort is the finest hotel in Fujairah and one of the most beautifully located beach resorts in the UAE — a magnificent circular tower rising from a private beach on the Indian Ocean coast, with 216 rooms and suites, a private beach, multiple pools, an excellent spa, several restaurants and extraordinary views of the Hajar Mountains and the Indian Ocean. The hotel is the most iconic building in Fujairah and is the best choice for visitors who want a luxury beach holiday in the emirate.

02

The Beach

Al Aqah Beach is the finest resort beach in Fujairah — a long, clean stretch of white sand with calm, warm Indian Ocean water, excellent facilities and a beautiful, uncrowded atmosphere. The beach is significantly less crowded than the Dubai beaches and has a more relaxed and natural character. The water is warm year-round and the beach is pleasant from October to May. The dramatic Hajar Mountains rising steeply behind the beach create an extraordinary and unique setting.

03

Snoopy Island

Snoopy Island is just 50 metres offshore from Al Aqah Beach — the most famous snorkelling destination in the UAE, with extraordinary coral gardens, almost-guaranteed sea turtle sightings, reef sharks, rays and the most accessible and spectacular marine life in the Emirates. The island is accessible by swimming from the beach and is suitable for confident swimmers and beginners (with a life jacket). Snorkelling equipment is available from the Sandy Beach Hotel dive centre at the northern end of the beach.

04

Mountain Backdrop

Al Aqah Beach has the most dramatic and spectacular setting of any resort beach in the UAE — the Hajar Mountains rise steeply from the coastal plain to over 1,500 metres, creating an extraordinary backdrop of grey limestone cliffs and green wadis directly behind the beach. The contrast between the turquoise Indian Ocean, the white sandy beach and the dramatic mountains is extraordinary and unlike anything else in the Emirates. The mountain backdrop is particularly beautiful at sunrise and sunset.

05

Radisson Blu Resort Fujairah

The Radisson Blu Resort Fujairah is the second-finest hotel on Al Aqah Beach — a beautiful beachfront resort with 320 rooms and suites, a private beach, multiple pools, an excellent spa, several restaurants and a dive centre. The resort is set directly on the beach with extraordinary views of the bay and the mountains. It is an excellent choice for visitors who want a comfortable, well-facilitated beach holiday at a slightly more affordable price than the Le Méridien.

06

Dining

Al Aqah Beach has an excellent dining scene — the Le Méridien has several restaurants including the Sana'a restaurant (Middle Eastern cuisine) and the Latitude restaurant (international buffet). The Radisson Blu has the Seabreeze restaurant (seafood) and the Oasis pool bar. The Sandy Beach Hotel has a good casual restaurant with fresh seafood. The hotel restaurants are the best dining options in the Al Aqah area — the town itself has limited restaurant options.

07

Water Sports

Al Aqah Beach has excellent water sports facilities — jet skiing, parasailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, banana boat rides and glass-bottom boat tours are all available from the beach. The dive centres at the Sandy Beach Hotel and the Radisson Blu offer guided dives to Snoopy Island and the surrounding reefs. The calm, warm Indian Ocean water is ideal for water sports and the beach has several dedicated water sports centres.

08

Practical Tips

Al Aqah Beach is 1.5 hours from Dubai by car — the drive through the Hajar Mountains via the Masafi road is beautiful. A car is essential for getting around Fujairah. October to April is the best time to visit. The Le Méridien and Radisson Blu should be booked well in advance for the peak season (December to March). Fujairah City (with the fort and museum) is 20 minutes south by car. Al Bidyah Mosque is 15 minutes north. Dibba is 30 minutes north.
