Things To Do in Cozumel

The best diving, snorkelling and island experiences at Cozumel.

Scuba Diving

Cozumel is one of the world's top diving destinations. The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef — the second largest in the world — surrounds the island, and the visibility is extraordinary, often exceeding 30 metres. Palancar Reef, Columbia Reef and Santa Rosa Wall are among the most famous dive sites. The drift diving here is world-class.

Snorkelling

Even if you don't dive, the snorkelling around Cozumel is extraordinary. Chankanaab National Park has excellent snorkelling on a natural reef, with sea turtles, eagle rays and hundreds of tropical fish. The shallow reefs on the western side of the island are perfect for snorkellers of all abilities.

Chankanaab National Park

Chankanaab National Park is one of the best day out options on Cozumel. The park has a beautiful lagoon, a botanical garden with over 350 plant species, excellent snorkelling on a natural reef, and dolphin encounter programmes. It's a great option for families and non-divers.

San Miguel de Cozumel

The main town on Cozumel is a colourful, laid-back Caribbean town with a lively waterfront, excellent restaurants and duty-free shopping. The town is small enough to explore on foot. The waterfront malecón is lined with restaurants and bars, and the atmosphere in the evening is relaxed and friendly.

Punta Sur Eco Beach Park

The southern tip of Cozumel is home to the Punta Sur Eco Beach Park — a wild, undeveloped stretch of coastline with a lighthouse, a crocodile lagoon and a small Mayan archaeological site. The beach here is beautiful and the snorkelling is excellent. It's one of the most peaceful spots on the island.
