Nevis is home to some of the most exclusive boutique resorts in the Caribbean. The Four Seasons Resort Nevis is one of the finest luxury resorts in the world — a magnificent property on Pinney's Beach with exceptional facilities. Montpelier Nevis is a legendary boutique resort in the hills above Charlestown, set in acres of tropical gardens. Both resorts offer an extraordinary level of luxury and service.
Nevis has some of the most beautiful and unspoiled beaches in the Caribbean. Nisbet Beach, on the north coast, is a stunning stretch of white sand with calm, clear water and excellent snorkelling. Pinney's Beach, on the west coast, is the longest beach on the island and home to the Four Seasons Resort. Both beaches have a wonderfully peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere.
Nevis Peak is the dramatic dormant volcano that dominates the island — rising to 985 metres above sea level. The hike to the summit takes about 3–4 hours through lush rainforest and cloud forest, and offers spectacular views over Nevis, St Kitts and the surrounding Caribbean islands. The hike is challenging but rewarding, and is best done with a local guide.
Charlestown is the charming capital of Nevis — a small, historic town with Georgian architecture, colourful wooden buildings and a wonderfully relaxed Caribbean atmosphere. The town has a good selection of restaurants, bars and shops. The Museum of Nevis History, housed in the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton, is one of the most interesting attractions on the island.
Nevis is accessible from St Kitts by a regular ferry service — the crossing takes about 45 minutes and ferries run several times a day. There is also a small airport on Nevis with connecting flights from St Kitts and other Caribbean islands. Most visitors to Nevis arrive by ferry from Basseterre or from the Majors Bay Ferry Terminal near Cockleshell Bay.
