Things To Do in Playacar

The best luxury resorts, golf and exclusive beach experiences on the Riviera Maya.

Luxury All-Inclusive Resorts

Playacar is home to some of the most exclusive and upmarket all-inclusive resorts on the Riviera Maya. Royal Hideaway Playacar is one of the most acclaimed adults-only resorts in Mexico — a small, intimate property with exceptional food, service and facilities. Sandos Playacar Beach Resort and Iberostar Tucan are also excellent options. The quality of the all-inclusive offering in Playacar is exceptional.

Immaculate Beaches

Playacar has some of the most beautiful and uncrowded beaches on the Riviera Maya — pristine stretches of white sand with calm, clear Caribbean water. The beaches in Playacar are generally less crowded than those in Playa del Carmen, giving them a more exclusive and peaceful atmosphere. The water is excellent for swimming and snorkelling.

Playacar Golf Course

The Playacar Golf Course is an 18-hole championship course designed by Robert von Hagge — one of the finest golf courses in Mexico. The course winds through the jungle and past Mayan ruins, with the Caribbean Sea visible from several holes. The course is open to guests of the Playacar resorts and to visitors.

Proximity to Playa del Carmen

Playacar is located immediately south of Playa del Carmen, giving guests easy access to the town's famous Quinta Avenida (5th Avenue), with its shops, restaurants, bars and nightlife. The beach walk from Playacar to the centre of Playa del Carmen takes about 15 minutes. The ferry to Cozumel departs from Playa del Carmen, just a short walk away.

Mayan Ruins & History

Playacar has its own small Mayan archaeological site within the complex — a fascinating reminder that the Riviera Maya was home to a thriving Mayan civilisation long before the arrival of the Spanish. The ruins are well-preserved and set in a beautiful jungle environment. Larger Mayan sites, including Tulum and Cobá, are within easy reach.
