Things To Do in Jolly Harbour

Marina life, beach days, golf and waterfront dining.

Jolly Beach

Jolly Beach is one of Antigua's longest beaches — a two-mile stretch of calm, shallow water that's ideal for families with young children. The beach is less developed than Dickenson Bay, which means more space and a more relaxed atmosphere. Sun loungers and beach bars are available.

Marina & Watersports

Jolly Harbour Marina is one of the largest in the Eastern Caribbean, with berths for over 150 yachts. The marina village has a good selection of watersports operators offering sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding and snorkelling trips. Day sails to nearby beaches and cays are popular.

Golf at Jolly Harbour

The 18-hole Jolly Harbour Golf Club is one of the few golf courses in Antigua. The course winds through the marina development with views across the water and out to sea. Club hire is available and the course is open to non-members.

Marina Village Shopping

The marina village has a good range of shops, including the well-stocked Epicurean Supermarket — one of the best on the island for self-catering. There are also boutiques, a pharmacy, a bank and several gift shops. It's the most convenient shopping hub on the west coast.

Waterfront Dining

Jolly Harbour has a solid selection of restaurants and bars around the marina. Cloggy's is the most popular — a Dutch-owned bar and restaurant with a great atmosphere and good food. The Castaways Beach Bar on Jolly Beach is the go-to for a cold beer with your feet in the sand.

Jolly Harbour Travel Guide

Jolly Harbour is Antigua's most self-contained holiday destination — a purpose-built marina village on the island's west coast that has everything you need within walking distance. It's particularly popular with families and self-catering holidaymakers who want the convenience of a resort without the all-inclusive price tag.

The development centres on a large marina with berths for over 150 yachts. Around the marina you'll find restaurants, bars, shops, a supermarket, a pharmacy and a bank — everything you need for a comfortable holiday without leaving the complex. The villas and apartments that line the marina channels are available to rent and offer excellent value compared to the big resort hotels.

Jolly Beach, which stretches north from the marina, is one of the longest and most beautiful beaches on the island. The water is calm and shallow — perfect for young children — and the beach is never as crowded as Dickenson Bay. There's a beach bar and sun lounger hire, but the atmosphere is noticeably more relaxed.

The golf course is a genuine highlight for those who play. The 18-hole course winds through the marina development with water features and sea views throughout. It's not the most challenging course in the Caribbean, but it's well-maintained and the setting is lovely.

Jolly Harbour is about 20 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from St John's. The west coast location means it catches the same spectacular sunsets as Dickenson Bay, and the marina provides a beautiful foreground for the evening light show.
