Sailing, superyachts, beach days and waterfront dining.
Pigeon Point Beach is one of the best family beaches in Antigua. The water is exceptionally calm and shallow — perfect for young children — and the beach is well-maintained with good facilities. It's less busy than Dickenson Bay but has everything you need for a great beach day.
Falmouth Harbour is the home of Antigua Sailing Week — the Caribbean's premier yachting regatta, held every April/May. Over 100 yachts and 5,000 visitors descend on the harbour for seven days of racing, parties and spectacle. Even if you're not a sailor, watching the fleet set off is genuinely breathtaking.
Falmouth Harbour Marina is one of the premier superyacht destinations in the Caribbean. Year-round you'll find some of the world's most spectacular private yachts moored here — the kind of boats that make your jaw drop. The marina walkway is open to the public and the people-watching is exceptional.
The Antigua Yacht Club is the hub of the island's sailing community and the headquarters of Sailing Week. The club bar is open to visitors and is one of the best places on the island to meet sailors, hear stories and get a feel for Antigua's deep connection with the sea.
Falmouth Harbour has some of Antigua's best restaurants. Abracadabra is the most famous — a legendary waterfront spot that's been at the heart of the sailing scene for decades. The menu is excellent, the atmosphere is lively and the location overlooking the marina is hard to beat.
Falmouth Harbour sits just around the headland from English Harbour and shares the same spectacular natural setting — a deep, protected bay surrounded by green hills. While English Harbour is about history, Falmouth Harbour is about sailing. This is where the Caribbean's most serious yachting happens, and the atmosphere reflects it.
The marina is one of the largest and best-equipped in the Eastern Caribbean, with berths for superyachts of up to 90 metres. Year-round, the harbour is home to some of the most spectacular private yachts in the world — the kind of boats that make you reconsider your life choices. The marina walkway is open to the public and the combination of gleaming superyachts, colourful racing yachts and the green hills behind is genuinely beautiful.
Antigua Sailing Week, held every April/May, transforms Falmouth Harbour into the most exciting place in the Caribbean. Over 100 yachts from around the world compete in a week of racing, with the harbour as the base for parties, prize-givings and celebrations. The Lord Nelson's Ball on the final night is one of the Caribbean's most famous parties. Even if you have no interest in sailing, the spectacle of the fleet setting off each morning is worth seeing.
Pigeon Point Beach, at the northern end of the harbour, is one of the best family beaches on the island. The water is exceptionally calm and shallow — ideal for young children — and the beach has good facilities without being overcrowded. The beach bar here is a great spot for lunch.
Falmouth Harbour is about 45 minutes from the airport and is adjacent to English Harbour, so it's easy to combine both areas in a day trip. The two harbours together make up the Nelson's Dockyard National Park, which is one of the most rewarding areas to explore on the whole island.
